It is a C program that generates Persian script using ascii characters.

Now you can express yourself in Persian, to your friends, your spouse, or maybe that sweetheart of yours. You no longer have to send emails like:

Turning Gerdsooz On!

Using Gerdsooz is very simple. An input file is created using English characters. Gerdsooz uses transliteration to map the English characters in the input file to Persian characters. The mapping is dictated by the font file. Please refer to README file for the transliteration map.

The main font for Gerdsooz is the mikhi-10 font. The height of the font is specified at the top of the font file (h 3). Then the font form for each Persian character is specified. Each character begins with [L][char][position]. L denotes new Letter. char specifies the ascii mapping of the Persian character. Position specifies the placement position of the Persian character: 0=Separate, 1=End, 2=Begin, 3=Middle. For example, La0 means the separate form of letter alef.

Gerdsooz's font mechanism is very flexible. The font file can be easily changed, and new fonts can be created. mikhi-10 should be a good start! One or more large fonts will also be available in the near future. These fonts will be useful for generating banners, similar to the unix banner program.
