The first documentary film festival of Iran is to be held in Kish Island between February 26-March 20.
Kamran Shirdel, the director of the festival, says: "In fact it is 30 years we are trying to hold a documentary film festival in Iran, but it was only after the Kish Island Free Zone Organization accepted our plans that this goal was achieved."
Shirdel, a first-generation documentary film maker added that the festival will review Iranian documentaries of four decades from 50 pioneering film makers.
The films to be displayed in the festival include works by Ebrahim Golestan, Nasser Kimiavi, Nasser Taghvaei, Khosrow Haritash, Fereidoon Rahnama, and Hajir Dariush in addition to films by post-revolution directors.
Shirdel said: "We have also proposed a festival in Kish Island titled Blue Horizon of 2000, focusing on documentaries related to the sea world, including environmental films."
