Tehran, Jan. 10, IRNA -- Iran and France have signed an agreement to
jointly assemble Peugeot 206 in Iran, it was announced here on Monday.
Iran Khodro company siged the accord on behalf of Iran while
Peugoet company signed it for France.
The ten-year-long contract goes into effect as of October 2001
and under which some 120,000 Peugeot-206 cars will be assembled in
Iran Khodro company each year.
Per the agreement, 65 percent of auto parts for this model of
Peugeot will be manufactured in Iran.
According to the report released by Iran Khodro company, the
mutual agreement allows the Iranian company to produce and export
as many assembled cars as it imports the car parts in c.k.d forms.
The production of this model started in 1998 and is now widely
used in Europe.
Sophisticated technology has been used for production of
Peugeot-206 which is sixth generation of its kind.
