Tehran, may 7, IRNA -- Province of Kerman representative to the
parliament Hossein Marashi denied rumors of split in the Kargozaran
Sazandegi party (servants of construction) here Sunday.
He added that although there are difference of views, there are no
major disagreements within the party.
He also alluded to the congruity and sincerity between the party
members and said that they will continue to work together.
Marashi stated that is the issue of naming the speaker of the
parliament will be discussed in the second of Khordad front (reformist
party) adding that there has not been any discussion on the subject as
yet.
Marashi said, "we are still awaiting the result of the Tehran
elections before making a decision on the choice of the speaker."
On the meeting between the minister of culture and Islamic
guidance Ataollah Mohajerani and some European ambassadors in Tehran
as reported by a section of the press, marashi said Mohajerani was
invited by the host, who is a personal friend of the minister, to the
reception which was an ordinary and normal event.
He added that the former mayor of Tehran, Gholam Hossien Karbaschi
and ambassadors from several other Muslim countries were also invited
to the reception.
MP: possibility of annuling Tehran election tally remote
Tehran, may 7, IRNA -- Majlis representative from Mashhad, Khorasan
province) Hamid-Reza Taraqi said here on Sunday that he viewed the
possibility of nullifying the results of the sixth Majlis election
for Tehran constituency as remote.
Talking to reporters, Taraqi hoped that the sixth Majlis would
move in the path of the late imam Khomeini and leader of Islamic
revolution ayatollah Ali Khamenei and that goals of some
nationalist-religious individuals for abusing the sixth Majlis would
not be materialized.
Elsewhere in the interview, Taraqi, referred to the recent meeting
of the culture and Islamic guidance minister Ataollah Mohajerani with
certain foreign ambassadors in Tehran, and said "it was a source of
regret for the government".
Taraqi hoped that the president Mohammad Khatami would accept the
resignation of Mohajerani before the scandal is disclosed. He further
hoped that government would clarify its stance on the issue and
Mohajerani would elaborate on the meeting.
He said 'according to the law', this is 'direct intervention of
the embassies in internal affairs of the country'. He called for
the expulsion of the ambassadors who attended the function.
The MP added that at the meeting, the participant ambassadors had
applauded stances of Mohajerani and stressed continuation of the
policy in the field of culture.
"... It has been heard that at the session pledges had been made
to Mohajerani that if he runs for the next presidential election they
would support him," said Taraqi.
He said that apparently ambassadors of European countries such as
Britain, France, Germany as well as canada attended the function.
