Iran has started to make tremendous effort to return the mummified corpse of the Iranian Prince with the cooperation of International Police.
Yesterday, the general director of the cultural property office of Cultural Inheritance Organization (CIO) while announcing this news added: "Considering the present evidences, the mummified corpse of Iranian Prince definitely belongs to our country and the conflicting talks both inside and outside the country do not diminish the importance of this matter.
Faegh Tohidi also added: "Further investigation and research on the mummified corpse will be carried out after returning the corpse by our own specialists in CIO."
Considering the engravings and cuneiform scripts on the coffin, the specialists believe that the mummified corpse of Iranian Prince is around 2500 years old, belonging to Achamenian era. It is believed that it has been taken abroad a few years ago from the 'Burnt City' in the south east of Iran.
It is interesting that although during the past ten days, all the specialists asserted that the mummified corpse belongs to an Iranian Prince, Mohsen Dani, Pakistani Archaeologist has claimed that it belongs to Egypt for Iranians did not use mummification historically and culturally. While another Pakistani archaeologist, Mian Atigh Ahamad believes that the corpse belongs to Achamenian Iran. On the other hand, according to English newspaper 'News' printed in Rawalpindi, Shah Nazar Khan one of the authorities of Pishavar Museum has claimed that the mummified corps belongs neither to Iran, nor Egypt, but to Afghanistan. Competition over the possession of the mummified corpse of the ancient Iranian Prince has started since a few days ago between the two states of Baluchestan and Sande in Pakistan.
