Tehran, Jan 23, IRNA -- "A Time for Drunken Horses," produced by
Iranian filmmaker Bahman Qobadi, is predicted to be a top contender
for the best foreign-language film award in this year's "Spirit Award"
ceremonies in the United States.
The ceremonies are to be held in Los Angeles on May 24, ahead of
the Oscar Award ceremonies which are to take place in the same city.
The Spirit Award is aimed at giving "support (to) independent
filmmakers, outside the realm of commercial Hollywood cinema with its
glitzy razzmatazz."
"A Time for Drunken Horses" is the only film among 46 entries
nominated for both best foreign-language film as well as for the
Oscar.
Qobadi has thus far won 11 awards for films he has produced and
nominated in international film festivals, including the Cannes,
Chicago, Sao Paulo, as well as Edinburgh.
