Tehran, April 7, IRNA -- Two Iranian wrestlers topped the list
released by the Federation International de Lutte Amateur
(FILA) which included the selected wrestlers in eight weights of both
categories, freestyle and Greco-Roman style in the year 2001.
Iranian wrestlers Hassan Rangraz and Parviz Zeidvand in the
54-kg 69-kg weights topped the list in 2001 as the best wrestlers of
the eight weights of the world Greco-Roman style, which implies the
remarkable achievement of the Iranian wrestlers over the past year.
This is an unprecedented record the Iranian wrestlers have gained
for at least one decade.
Names of some of the best world wrestlers both in the freestyle
and Greco-Roman style in 2001 follow:
In the freestyle, 54-kg weight, a Bulgarian wrestler with 24
points and Babak Nourzad from Iran with 17 points ranked 14th, while
Mohammad Aslani with ten points stood 16th.
In the freestyle, 58-kg weight an Ukrainian wrestler and Behnam
Tayebi from Iran with 18 points ranked fifth.
In the freestyle 63-kg weight a Bulgarian wrestler with 32 points
and Alireza Dabir from Iran with 17 points jointly ranked fourth.
In the freestyle Alireza Heydari from Iran with 12 points jointly
with a Russian wrestler with 31 points ranked seventh.
In the Greco-Roman style, Hassan Rangraz from Iran in the 54-kg
weight ranked first with 30 points, while in the 58-kg weight Ali
Ashkani from Iran with 28 points jointly with a Cuban wrestler
with 28 points scored second.
