International Children's Book Foundation's mission is to finance and promote projects that enrich Persian culture and civilization. We believe that learning and understanding other cultures is a shared responsibility of all United States citizens. ICBF is therefore committed to creating opportunities for Iranian and non-Iranian youth alike to learn to appreciate and experience the rich cultural heritage of the Persian speaking peoples.
This year, the focus of our institutional goals and fundraising efforts is as follows:
- Assisting UCLA's Iranian Studies Program to help advance the instruction and dissemination of Persian history and culture
- Collaborating with Children's Book Council to sponsor Iranian authors and illustrators of children's literature to attend international conferences
We plan to develop a series of world class seminars at UCLA on a variety of topics related to Iran, and to publish the proceedings to maximize their effect. Starting this year, we shall also launch an ongoing summer program at UCLA on Persian language and culture aimed primarily at high school and college students.
Built on past success, we also plan to sponsor a number of Iranian authors of children's books and illustrators to participate in the Bologna Children's Book Fair 2003 and the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava (BIB).
We are looking forward to sharing an exciting and informative evening with those who are passionate about promoting Persian culture. A cumulative effort is critical to the success of growth and understanding in our global world
