Tehran, Dec 24, IRNA -- Head of Iran's Red Crescent Society (IRCS)
Ahmad Ali Nourbala on Tuesday expressed deep concern about violation
of human rights of Iranian migrants and several detention cases
against members of Iranian Community in the United States.
In a message to President and Chief Executive Officer of American
Red Cross Mrs. Marsha Johnson Evans, Nourbala said that the IRCS is
ready to extend counsel assistance to the Iranians.
Nourbala regretted that members of Iranian community in the United
States have been exposed to violation of human rights by the US
Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and called on the
American Red Cross to take action to ease the sufferings of the
Iranian community in the US in line with the humanitarian goals of
the Red Cross away from politics.
Meanwhile, Nourbala called on the Geneva-based International
Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of
Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to do their best to help secure
the release of Iranians from detention in the United States.
He said in his message to Mrs. Evans that immediately after
September 11 terrorist attacks in the United States, the IRCS extended
condolence to the American Red Cross on the loss of lives of innocent
people and condemned such evil acts of terrorism.
Iranian Foreign Ministry has protested to the Swiss government
which holds the US interest section in Iran against the harsh
treatment the INS has imposed on members of Iranian community in the
United States while they had been voluntarily registering with the
office in Los Angeles as required.
