Tehran, Nov 25, IRNA -- Mitra Hejazipour and Atoussa Pourkashian of
Iran ranked second and third respectively at the 19th World
Championships in Greece.
In the last round of the 10-year-olds category, Hejazipour
checkmated her Chinese rival finishing runner-up with 9 points.
Pourkashian also managed to beat a player from Turkey in her last
contest of 14 years of age group standing third with 8 points.
Iranian chess player, Shadi Paridar, 16 won 7.5 points to rank 6th
by beating her opponent from Russia. The 12-year-old Forouz Seidi,
also an Iranian representative, fought to a stalemate against her
Slovenian rival standing 44th with 5.5 points and Shayesteh Qaderpour
of Iran, 18, defeated an Australian opponent. Qaderpour collected four
points but the International Chess Federation has not yet announced
her ranking.
Iranian boys' matches are as follows:
18 years: Seyed Hamed Mousavian lost to a Georgian player
finishing 34th with 6 points.
16 years: Arash Akbarinia overcame a contestant from Moldavia
standing 21st with 6.5 points while Amin Nasri ranked 42nd with 5.5
points by beating a player from Lithuania.
14 years: Amin Norouzi beat his Turkish rival ranking 32nd with
5.5 points.
12 years: Arash Abdollahzadeh managed to checkmate an Italian
participant finishing 47th with 6 points.
10 years: Saleh Mirzaei tied with a French player standing 44th
with 6 points.
Chess players of 70 countries participated in the 19th world event
in Greece.
