Bijan Sartipi, an Iranian-American, has been appointed as District Director (San Francisco, district 4) by California Department Of Transportation (Caltrans). This is the Highest Rank ever achieved by an Iranian-American at Caltrans.

In the memorandum issued by Caltrans, Bijan's background is described as follows:

Bijan has 20 years of service with Caltrans. He began his career in 1982 as moved through the ranks to his current position as the Deputy District Director, Project Development in District 4.

He has extensive experience in Design and Program/Project Management as well as management experience in the Capital Outlay support program. He has been responsible for the delivery of all projects in the nine counties of the Bay Area and is continually finding innovative ways to meet project delivery.

In 1981, Bijan graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pacific in Stockton.
