Shemiranat, Tehran prov, Nov 27, IRNA -- Basij forces are due to take part in grand maneuvers named Eqtedar Heidariun which would be held in the presence of basij officials, families of martyrs, disabled war veterans and the police authorities.

A source at the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said the war games are intended to strengthen the capacity of the basij forces vis-a-vis the threats posed by internal and foreign enemies of Iran's Islamic system.

Mehdi Qasemi added that the social situation now necessitate a strong basij force to deal with the social abnormalities and threats.

Basij force stand ready invariably to implement the orders given by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

He said basijis (voluntary forces) should acquire needed social and educational skills to be able to meet the requirements of the Iranian society.

He called on the officials to adopt measures to help promote the basij culture in the Iranian society and in particular among the youths.

In a time when the enemies of Islam are having recourse to every possible means to weaken the Islamic values in the society, it is indispensable to take steps toward the enforcement of the basij culture in the society, he said while talking to the audience.

He said the basijis have proved the fact that they can contribute to the guaranteeing of the national security. He called on the officials to help develop the basij circles in the country.

The source said the officials have to pay more attention to the basij as part of measures to promote the culture of basij in the society.

He further called for officials to consider the directives given by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei who has in various occasion called on the Basij forces to launch cultural programs to promote morality among the young generation.

Supreme Leader stressed earlier that the Basij volunteers should adopt sympathetic approach toward the youth and offer ethical guidance to their own age group.

The Leader lauded the faith and sincerity of the young generation and said that they are interested in the Islamic values and to this end the Basij should play an effective role in helping the Iranian youth set a pattern for the world's young generation and foil the attempts to divert the youth from the right path.

Major cleric says enemies after creating gap between people, clergy

The enemies have targeted the Islamic Revolution of Iran by trying to create a gap between the public and the clergy and to fan the flames of discord, ayatollah Lankarani added.

The ayatollah who was speaking to a gathering of the commanders and officials of the qom basijis said the superpowers have seen that they schemes to suppress Iran's Islamic system would be to no avail have launched a cultural onslaught on the iranian people and youth.

He called on the basij forces to stand ready and vigilant in the face of the evil ploys hatched by the enemies against the's system.

The Iranians should know that the oppressed peoples around the world have pinned many hopes on iran's islamic system, he noted.

He said efforts should be done to enlighten the minds of the youths so that they refrain from falling prey to the conspiracies designed by the enemies of Islam.

Some in the country are after representing the basij members as illiterate individuals who have nothing to done in their lives but this is not correct.

Now there are many intellectuals, engineers and prominent scholars in the basij circles, he noted.

The basij volunteers have repeatedly announced readiness to show the US that they are supporters of the Islamic establishment and the jurisprudence.

The Basijis should be well prepared to defend the country's security, said the cleric adding that the Basij is a popular force with millions of members involved in safeguarding and reconstruction of Iran's system.

He noted that any movement to dismantle pillars of the system, to make a gap among parts of government, to provoke differences in the country would be a blow to national solidarity and in favor of the US.
