Tehran, Nov 29, IRNA -- Hojatoleslam Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said
here on Friday that the architects of the Zionism-Christianity
coalition plan to bring about a big rift in Iran and to make deeper
the gap between seminaries and universities.
"They want to alienate the Iranian youth from the revolution and
they have of course failed in all their conspiracies," said the
Expediency Council Chairman Rafsanjani in his second Friday prayers
sermon at Tehran University's central campus compound on the last
Friday of holy fasting month of Ramadhan, marking the World Qods Day.
Rafsanjani advised the nation, particularly the youth, to be
vigilant and not to show simplistic attitudes towards such sensitive
matters.
He recommended the youth to ponder on the reason the West has
geared up all its facilities, including radio and TV, satellite, film
industry and press, to launch wide-scale publicity against the brave
Iranian nation.
He warned against any move that would please sinister goals of the
arrogance and deviate the youth.
"All (Iranians) should be vigilant and alert; and now I do not
want to support or reject any particular party," said the Friday
Prayer leader.
He meanwhile hoped he would not, God forbid, witness any "bad and
dirty conflicts" in the future that would favor and please "the
enemy."
The influential Iranian official advised setting aside all
differences in the face of Americans' military build-up in the region.
He lauded the (mobilization) Basij Week and said Basijis would
foil the enemies' hostilities as "was indicated in recent incidents."
Rafsanjani's reference was obviously to Basijis' demonstration
against recent riots, sparked by a death sentence issued against
university Professor, Dr. Hashem Aghajari, by a court in Hamedan on
charges of defamatory and sacrilegious claims against the Prophet
(PBUH).
He thanked the Iranian nation for their high turn-out in Friday's
World Qods Day rallies, the exercise whose observation was called 24
years ago by founder of the Islamic Republic and father of the Islamic
Revolution the late Imam Khomeini.
Iran's chief arbitrator denounced indifference of the world public
pinion towards crimes committed by the Zionist Regime, saying the
west's conscience does not react to the issue despite publication of
photos and films on Israelis' crimes.
He was also critical of certain Muslim states for refusing to take
proper action against Israeli crimes due to their strong ties with the
United States.
"It's a matter of surprise that certain Muslim states assume the
US is their savior angel," he said.
Palestine is the most important Islamic concern today, and
furthermore, the mother of all issues in the contemporary world,
concluded Rafsanjani.
Karroubi calls for unity, warding off dispersion
Tehran, Nov 29, IRNA -- Majlis Speaker Mehdi Karroubi here Thursday
stressed dispelling dispersion and hostility by taking the national
Constitution and ideals of the late Imam Khomeini as the yardstick.
"Constitution is our charter and we should avoid factionalism,"
said Karroubi in an address to a group of worshipers here at the late
Imam Khomeini's mausoleum on Thursday, which marked the last night of
Qadr (Grandeur).
The Holy Quran is believed to have been revealed to Prophet
Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) on one of the three nights known as
`Qadr' (the 19th, 21st and 23rd nights of the auspicious month of
Ramadan, which fall this year on November 24, 26 and 28).
Karroubi invited the statesmen, elite, press and scholars to unity
at the ongoing sensitive juncture.
He also called for high public turnout in the World Qods Day
rallies on Friday, November 29, that is the last Friday of the holy
month of Ramadan in the world of Islam.
He said Europe, Asia and Africa are today calling for an
independent Palestine and a government in the Palestinian land thanks
to Iran's Islamic Revolution and the late Imam Khomeini's initiative.
Some 24 years ago, founder of the Islamic Republic and father of
the Islamic Revolution the late Imam Khomeini on the last Friday of
the holy month of Ramadan issued a message in which he called the day
as the World Qods Day.
People from various walks of life, including students, state and
military officials, civil servants, shop-keepers and so on, take part
in the rally annually to condemn Israel's atrocities and the US
support for the Zionist regime.
