Iran crushes Japan, snatches 4th Asian Futsal Championship

Kuala Lumpur, Oct 30, IRNA -- Iran's futsal team snatched the Fourth Asian Futsal Championship held in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Iran has won the three previous rounds of the Asian futsal championship, proving its worth.

In the previous round, the defending champions Iran beat South Korea 7-4 in the semifinal match of on Tuesday to ascend into the final game.

Iran soon shocked South Koreans with an early lead of 3-0 in the first 30 minutes. However, it was the South Koreans who fought back to level the scores 4-4 at the half-time.

Still, the solid Iranian squad, possessing the best attacking line in the event, was able to thwart attempts by the South Korean in the second half and scored three goals to seal victory.

In the other semifinal, Japan, which edged out last year's runner-up Uzbekistan in the quarter finals, beat Thailand 3-0 after a scoreless first half.

Ichihara Takaaki scored the first goal in the 26th minute before Maeda Yoshifumi shot home a penalty kick in 33rd minute.

Some minutes later Yoshifumi scored his second goal just after thailand's Tanasit Tong-In was expelled for foul play.
