The Student Majlis (Parliament) opens Saturday with 150 representatives from the nation's schools, IRNA reported from Tehran.
According to the `Tehran Times' daily, the deputies chosen in a three-phase election by 4 million secondary-level students will swear in today to follow up on the demands of 20 million students.
They will elect a speaker, two deputy-speakers, two secretaries and an administrator from among 35 candidates to inaugurate deliberations on two sensitive drafts.
As to the first draft, the representatives must choose one of the three suggested topics of "compilation of a book about human rights with stress on children's rights," "establishment of scientific settlements" and "students and life skills."
The chosen topic will be substance of a six-month research that will reflect the students' concerns, demands and comments in regard to that topic and will be issues as a document after being endorsed by the Student Parliament.
The second draft contains 29 proposed topics that will build up the special commissions of the parliament to address main areas of concern of the students.
Educational workshops about students parliaments overseas, communications and information and part of extra activities of the body.
