Iranian inventor Akbar Akhonzadeh has successfully manufactured the first unmanned helicopter in the country, IRNA reported from Tehran.
Speaking to IRNA, he said the new helicopter with ten-horse power engine can gain altitudes of upto ten thousands foot from sea level and attain speed of 120 kilometer per hour for about 210 minutes.
The new helicopter has been designed in three weight categories as light, medium and heavy, he said.
The light helicopter can be used for training pilots, professional sports while the medium size could be used for transmission of photos, taking photos and movies. The heavy type is used for flying over forests, rangeland, as well as conducting military missions, he said.
The unmanned helicopter is controlled by JPS system and the geographical location of the helicopter can be screened on computer, he pointed out.
The unmanned helicopter can be used for non-military purposes such as agriculture, environmental protection, controlling oil and gas pipelines and transmission of radio and TV signals in difficult terrain, he said.
An unmanned helicopter can be manufactured at a cost of rls 150 million.
