According to reports by Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin, heading a high-ranking political delegation, is arriving in the Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamdi-Reza Asefi said in Tehran on Tuesday.
The French foreign minister, who is visiting the country on the invitation of his Iranian counterpart, will hold talks with high-ranking Iranian officials to broaden and consolidate mutual relations and pursue regional and international consultations between the two countries, Asefi said.
According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, de Villepin will have meetings with President Mohammad Khatami, Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and Foreign Minister Dr. Kamal Kharrazi.
Expansion of mutual ties, review of sensitive developments in the region, particularly post-war Iraq, will top the agenda of talks scheduled between the two sides, Asefi said.
