Fund to be established in Iran to protect writers, artists

The cabinet on Monday, authorized the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to establish a fund to protect writers and artists, IRNA reported from Tehran.

Speaking to reporters, Government Spokesman Abdollah Ramezanzadeh said that the fund which is to be established with the participation of writers and artists is aimed at backing the writers and artists and providing them with social security benefits.

"The government will extend a fund of rls one billion to them as a primary capital," he added.

Ramezanzadeh said that in line with reduced government participation in current affairs and making the private sector more active, the cabinet authorized the transfer of 60 percent of the shares of Dana, Alborz and Asia insurance companies via stock market.

Referring to assessment of the prospect of the Fourth Development Plan which is drawn up by the Management and Planning Organization (MPO), he said that seven commissions have been assigned to examine its various aspects.

He hoped that the government will manage to submit the draft on Fourth Development Plan to Majlis on the due date.

"The cabinet also agreed to expedite the implementation of the by-law on note Z of Article 19 of the current Iranian year's (started March 21) budget law," he noted.

Ramezanzadeh said that the cabinet has also authorized the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance to guarantee that the long and medium-term loans, at a ceiling of dlrs 33.9 million, to be extended by the banking system to the Islamic Republic Railways to purchase 100,000 tons of rail from international enterprises will be reimbursed.

He added that according to another decision taken by the cabinet, the Finance Ministry is permitted to see to it that the long and medium-term credits of a maximum ceiling of dlrs 185 million granted to Mobin Petrochemical Company by the banking system, will be reimbursed and to avail the international institutes with the necessary guarantee.
