Head of Investment Organization Mohammad Khazaei said on Tuesday that the risk of investment in the Islamic Republic of Iran has dropped from six points to four points in the past three years and the figure is expected to stand at three in the near future, IRNA reported from Tabriz, East Azarbaijan province.
Addressing the international conference on 'Foreign Investment Opportunities in Tabriz', he said the investment in the country has improved between 20 to 30 percent compared to the figure for 2000.
He expressed the hope that by creating proper political, judicial and technical grounds, the current situation will further improve.
There are suitable grounds for investment in the country , he said adding that the officials are well aware of this.
Foreign investment in the country registered a ten-fold growth this year compared to the figure ten years ago, he said.
Factors such as suitable geographical location, young population as well as a 350 million consumers in regional markets have prepared the grounds for absorbing foreign capital, he said.
The international gathering on foreign investment opportunities will continue for two days.
Some 270 development projects valued at dlrs 2.2 million will be offered for investment in the province by foreign investors.
The international conference is to make familiar the foreign investors with their Iranian counterparts.
Some 200 foreign investors along with 500 domestic entrepreneurs are taking part in the conference.
Mazaheri says Iran is safe for foreign investment
Minister of Economy and Finance Tahmasb Mazaheri said in Tabriz on Tuesday that Iran's economy provides a safe haven for foreign investment.
Mazaheri told International Seminar of Foreign Investment that positive conditions prevail in Iran for foreign investment in promoting national economy in the light of the ratification of a law on guaranteeing foreign investment.
He said that investment in Iran would benefit both investors and the host country.
The minister gave further pledges for economic reforms to benefit the investors.
The International Seminar of Foreign Investment is underway in this northwestern provincial city for two days.
Some 270 projects, worth dlrs 2.2 billion, are to be presented to the audience in this seminar.
The meeting aims to make the participants acquainted with each other.
Some 200 foreign and 500 Iranian investors are taking part in the seminar.
