A seminar and workshop on information technology (IT) opened in Kish University in Hormuzgan province of Iran on Saturday, IRNA reported.
Head of Kish University public relations department, Seyed Mojtaba Aqili, told IRNA that prominent professors from the US, Canada, the UAE and several Iranian universities are scheduled to give instructions at the 15-day seminar.
"IT strategic design and electronic-card technology are among the subjects to be taught at the seminar and workshop," he added.
Aqili said that private networks, architecture of IT and data security are also included in the training program of the seminar.
The training program is open to the public free of charge at various levels of IT discipline.
"The course is the second phase of the training program of an IT tour which opened a week ago with the main objective of developing the culture of using IT," he noted.
Kish Island has been named as the experimental IT base.
Arrangement of the first IT tour, putting into operation electronic cards system for Kish University students to enable them to enroll, pay their tuition, use welfare services, have access to library resources and their scholastic records and attendance are some of the applications of electronic cards.
