Ilam, Aug 28, IRNA -- Rotating Head of the Interim Iraqi Governing
Council Ibrahim al-Jafari said on Wednesday, "In order to provide
electricity for Iraqi cities, they will be connected to neighboring
untries` electricity networks."
Quoting al-Jafari on the matter, Iraq`s News TV (INTV) added,
Iraq`s electrical facilities and network will not be mended in a
matter of days, and that is why we need to buy electrical power from
Iraq`s neighbors."
Radio Free Iraq had earlier predicted that Iran`s western
provinces, such as Ilam and Kermanshah might be selling electrical
power to their neighboring Iraqi provinces within the upcoming months.
Turning to territorial disputes, al-Jafari said, "Solving Iraq`s
territorial disputes with its neighbors need to be done amid
favorable conditions."
Regarding the frequenting of other countries` nationals, including
the Iranians to Iraq, and surveying about their health at Iraqi
borders, he said, "Iraq`s Health Ministry has so far not reported the
spread of any catchy disease, including cholera, among the Iraqis, or
the foreigners visiting Iraqi cities."
