MP from Tehran Elahe Koulaie said on
Sunday that Iranian officials should find a remedy to brain drain,
which has made Iran rank first in this regard worldwide, IRNA reported from Tehran.
Koulaie told a regional seminar on youth employment that Iranian
population has doubled in the post-Islamic Revolution era which
means that the population has become young and demand for job has
increased.
She said that vicious cycle of unemployment, lack of access to
financial resources, unwise demand, imbalance of supply and demand,
and lack of investment in developing states have served to give a
boost to unemployment and poverty.
She said no tangible progress has been made over the past
quarter a century in Iran to tackle the unemployment problem and
many projects for creation of jobs have proved futile in practice.
She added that the World Trade Organization has taken important
moves to facilitate exchange of goods and lift customs barriers but
has not taken transfer of manpower into consideration.
The lawmaker said reforms in social patterns would lead to
further unemployment.
