Iran finished fifth in the soccer
competitions of World University Games in Daigo, South Korea,
Saturday, IRNA reported.
Iran crushed the Thai side 5-0, clinching the fifth title.
Farid Abedi opened scoring for Iran in the 11th minute, Homayoun
Geravand netted the second two minutes later, Bahman Tahmasbi struck
the third on 19 minutes, and Abedi grabbed his double and Iran`s
fourth five minutes before the break.
Nader Kord slotted home in the 77th minute to complete the
Thailand rout.
Out of six matches, the Iranian team won five against
Canada, Uruguay, China, England, and Thailand. Iran lost to the Czech
Republic.
Sixteen teams took part in the event.
