An earthquake with an intensity of 4 degrees on the Richter scale jolted the city of Qaemshahr in northern province of Mazandaran on Tuesday night, IRNA reported.
Head of provincial Natural Disasters Headquarters Behzad Pour-Mohammad said the tremor occurred at 22:35 hours local time (1905 GMT).
He said relief workers have been dispatched to the region and there were no reports of any casualty or damage caused by the quake. Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines and quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence.
