The number of tourists arriving in Iran via Tehran's Mehrabad airport has shown a 24 percent increase to 263,278 in the first two months of fall, according to Mehrabad customs office, IRNA reported.
Mehrabad customs office said in a report, a copy of which was made available to IRNA on Saturday, that more than 231,334 Iranians and 31,934 foreigners had arrived in Iran via Mehrabad airport in the period under study.
The report said the number of outgoing passengers via Mehrabad airport in the said period too rose by 24 percent to 257,045, including 217,357 Iranians and 35,688 foreigners. The number of foreign nationals leaving Iran via Mehrabad airport rose by 15 percent from 'Mehr' to'Aban' -- the seventh and eighth months of Iranian calendar -- compared to the same period the previous year, added the report.
Furthermore, more than 9,000 tons of goods, worth rls 4.73 trillion, were either imported or exported via Mehrabad customs office in the period, the report said.
Fresh fruits and vegetables were major items exported mostly to the UAE via Mehrabad customs office, it added.
