A senior official of the central province of Yazd said on Monday that all the relevant security institutions of the province as well as the Judiciary are determined to strongly confront those who assaulted MP Mohsen Mirdamadi in provincial capital Yazd last Friday, IRNA reported.
Yazd Governor General Hamid Kalantari told IRNA that his office as well as the Judiciary, the police, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), the Basij and the Information Ministry are determined to follow up the issue.
He said all officials in Yazd province agree that the Judiciary should seriously confront the culprits within the framework of the laws.
Mirdamadi, who represents the people of Tehran at the Majlis and is also the chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, was beaten up by unidentified individuals while delivering a speech in Yazd on Friday.
Meanwhile, Mohammad-Ali Saddouqi, the leader of Yazd Friday prayers and the representative of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, told IRNA that IRGC must arrest two assailants who attacked Mirdamadi.
Saddouqi stressed that it has been reported that one of the assailants is still absconding and is expected to be arrested soon. He added that a certain political current was behind the attack on the MP, and expressed regret that the movement is trying to misuse people's religious sentiments.
A Majlis deputy on Saturday said 17 of Mirdamadi's assailants have been identified.
