Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technology Hossein Shafi'ie said in Zanjan on Sunday that over 200,000 skillful Iranian researchers are involved in research worldwide, IRNA reported.
Speaking at the ceremony to mark Research Week, he added that growing communication between universities and scientific centers can boost Iran's share of scientific production.
He noted that there are currently 50 Information Technology (IT) centers operational in universities across the nation to enable access to research projects conducted at scientific centers.
Turning to the particular focus on the issue by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, he added, "According to the recent ratification, the companies affiliated to the ministry spend at least two percent of their annual budget on education and research."
For his part, Zanjan province Governor-General Jaafar Rahmanzadeh said that Islamic countries can play a decisive role in the field, given its numerous potentials.
The official referred to scattered research activities, the individual feature of researches, lack of full social security for researchers and the small share of the private sector in research as some of the difficulties in the field.
