Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi wrapped up a two-day visit to Spain to attend the conference of Dialogue Among Civilizations and returned home early Wednesday, IRNA reported from Tehran.
Upon his arrival at Mehrabad International Airport, Kharrazi told reporters that during his separate meetings with senior Spanish officials, the sides discussed bilateral, regional and international issues, particularly developments in Iraq and in the Middle East.
He added during his stay in Madrid, an exhibition on 600 years of Iran-Spain ties was inaugurated which was indeed an indication of close relations between the two sides.
Iran can act as a bridge for dialogue among civilizations in an area which embraces the Islamic civilization and that of the West, the minister said, adding the issue could be regarded as a ground for further expansion of economic and political relations of Iran with other countries.
While in Spain, the Iranian minister held separate meetings with Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar, President of Spain`s Senate Juan Jose Lucas Gimenez and his Spanish counterpart Ana Palacio.
