A unique Earth-shaped carpet has been woven by a couple of weavers in the city of Birjand in the northeastern province of Khorassan in Iran, IRNA reported.
One of the weavers, Rajab Kharashadizadeh, told IRNA on Wednesday that the process of designing and making the model and weaving the carpet has lasted five years.
The weaver mentioned that the map of all the countries around the world and the locations of 120 capital cities alongside the names of the countries, the oceans, the seas and the lakes were woven in Latin letters on the carpet.
More than 990 rows, 1,980 warps and one million and forty thousand knots have been woven in the carpet. The circumference of the carpet is 2,75 meters, he added.
Head of Carpet Department of Birjand, Abolfazl Moussavi said that such a carpet is a unique artistic work in the world.
