Washington DC, December 31, 2003 - The Office of Foreign Assets Control met today with representatives of other government departments in regards to establishing a fast-track licensing system for the NGO's wishing to help the earthquake victims in Iran. Due to the strict sanctions on Iran, aid work has been considerably slowed down. NIAC has in discussions with representatives of these US agencies conveyed the frustration of many Iranian-American organizations whose efforts to help the victims have been hindered by the sanctions. A final decision by OFAC is expected by the end of this week.
