Tehran, Feb 1, IRNA -- President Mohammad Khatami and Parliament Speaker Mehdi Karroubi will follow up the recent letter of a senior member of the Freedom Movement of Iran (FMI) Ezzatollah Sahabi.
Karroubi told reporters on Saturday that he was going to take certain measures regarding Sahabi's letter that included writing a letter to Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi in that connection.
"Although Sahabi has addressed the heads of the three branches of government, the responsibility of the issue lies on Shahroudi's shoulder," the speaker said.
Sahabi, in a letter to the heads of the three branches of the government, criticized the behavior of security officials toward him during and after his release from prison, and called for launching a probe into the case.
Also in related news, Vice-President for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Mohammad-Ali Abtahi said he was shocked to read the letter, stressing that President Mohammad Khatami will definitely follow up the issue.
"If the contents of Sahabi's letter are really true, the issue will be a tragedy," he said stressing the need to take measures to stop the recurrence of similar incidents.
