New Delhi, Feb 5, IRNA -- Iran on Wednesday termed as "totally baseless" a media website report that it has agreed to give India the right to use Iranian bases for operations against Pakistan.
According to a press release of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Embassy in New Delhi, a copy of which was received by IRNA earlier today, "the DefenseNews.com has published a baseless report about use of Iranian military bases by India."
"The constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran under no condition gives permission to the armed forces of foreign countries to use its land, space and ports," the release said.
According to the release, the news from the Defense News Report that "Iran and India have signed an agreement according to which India has been given the right to use Iranian bases for operations against Pakistan" is "totally baseless."
The Indian government has also said that no such agreement was signed during the recent visit of Indian Naval Chief Admiral Madhavendra Singh to Tehran.
