Tehran, Jan 4, IRNA -- A mountaineer saved the lives of six other mountaineers who had almost frozen and transferred them to a mountain hotel, it was announced here by a Red Crescent official, Saturday evening.
An official of the Red Crescent Organization in charge of harmonizing the life saving operations in mountainous areas said that the amateur mountaineers who had got frozen while climbing towards Towchal Peak were saved by a single weathered mountaineer and transferred to Osoun Hotel, last Saturday.
Esmaeil Eskandari told IRNA that at 11 pm the emergency police -- Police 110 -- was informed by the mobile phone of one of the injured mountaineers about being frozen of the six mountaineers, including three men and three women.
A six-member life saver team affiliated to the Red Crescent was dispatched to Osoun Hotel, half way up towards the Towchal Peak, and found out that the mountaineers had kept the victims warm and fed them warm liquids gradually, and therefore the victims were recovering.
Eskandari added, "during the night time life saving operation one of the life savers, Ahmad Mohammad Hassani, seriously injured his right leg and was transferred to Imam Khomeini Hospital for necessary treatment since he complained of severe pain.
He said, "thanks to the hard work of a surgery team, Hassani's leg, which might have been severed due to acute injuries, was also fortunately treated."
The Red Crescent official asked the mountaineers to contact the mountainous areas life savers immediately by calling 625 03 73.
