Bushehr, Jan 17, IRNA -- About 300 students held a sit-in in front of the governor's office in the southern Khark island after their mate drowned and two others went missing during a sea mishap in which their boat sank in a storm on Wednesday.
The boat was carrying 10 students from Genaveh to Khark island in the Persian Gulf when the accident happened. Seven of those aboard were plucked from the waters by police and were rushed to hospital in Genaveh where they received outpatient treatment.
Sea travels on sub-standard boats en route Genaveh and Khark is subject to regular accidents.
Governor of Khark, Mohammad Mohaddes-Nia, gave the name of the victim Tamras Najafi, who studied industrial management at the Islamic Azad University of Khark.
He blamed the mishap on a stormy weather and the error of the boat's captain.
