Moscow, Jan 18, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohamed El-Baradei has described as 'good' the agreement between Russia and Iran to return to Russia spent nuclear fuel from the Bushehr nuclear power plant.
El-Baradei told a news conference at the Itar-Tass headquarters Thursday afternoon he would visit Iran on February 25 to discuss all aspects of the Bushehr nuclear power plant construction project.
Many countries have expressed concern over Iran's nuclear potential and they have been urging it to enhance the transparency of its nuclear programs, ElBaradei said.
He plans to urge Iran to join the additional protocol to the nuclear arms non-proliferation treaty.
The IAEA has encountered no problems at negotiations with Tehran. "A number of facilities is under construction in Iran and we would like to visit them to see that sufficient security measures have been taken," El-Baradei said.
El-Baradei hopes to have a meeting with Iran's President Khatami to hear a confirmation Iran's nuclear activity is purely civilian.
