Ahvaz, Khuzestan prov, Jan 31, IRNA -- An earthquake with a magnitude
of 4.2 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale jolted the southwestern
city of Masjed Soleyman on Friday.
The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute, affiliated to
Tehran University, recorded the quake at 01:56 a.m. local time (2226
GMT) and put its epicenter southwest of the city.
There was no immediate reports of possible casualty or damage.
Last month, another quake with the same magnitude rocked the
city, leaving no casualties or damage.
Iran sits on some of the world's seismic faultlines and is often
shaken by earthquakes of various intensities.
