ArteEast Announces Middle East Arts and Culture Website

New York, July 7 - Arts advocates and supporters have a new vehicle to find out about innovative arts and cultural programs covering the various viewpoints of Middle East experiences and perspectives in the United States. ArteEast is launching a new web site, www.arteeast.org, the first of its kind, to highlight important works from and about the Middle East and provide a national platform to showcase and promote these projects as they travel the United States.  "In times like these, ArteEast programs are an important bridge between the myriad of Middle Eastern cultures and the American public," said Livia Alexander, ArteEast Director.

The unique services offered by ArteEast include an easily accessible virtual space for "one stop shopping" that will provide information to individuals eager to stay on the forefront of the burgeoning Middle Eastern arts scene, a virtual gallery featuring regular in-depth profiles of selected artists, and breaking Arts News and ongoing updates about the arts scene throughout the region.

ArteEast's upcoming programs and website highlights include:

Cinema East - In collaboration with the NYU Department of Middle East Studies, this bi-weekly series of films from the Middle East will run September 13 to May 15, 2004 at the NYU Cantor Theater. The program is also slated to travel throughout the country.
