According to the Tehran Governor General office's public relations department, Rahmani said "Tehran province's economic prospects, given all that is done, are bright,".
Speaking after a visit to a fair show casing provinces's capabilities, Rahmani said that a protocol has been signed to set aside a 400 hectares parcel of land close to the city of Karaj making Tehran as a primary exporter of agricultural product and flowers to the Europe Union.
He further said that the province economic prospects will also undergo significant improvements as the province could also export various items to members of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
On the provinces' capabilities, he said 35 percent of all national industries are active in the province.
In addition, Tehran province accounts for 40 percent of the nation's total expenditures, including manufacturing, agriculture, and services sectors (insurance, social security and banking) and close to 26 percent of the country's gross domestic product (GDP).
The promotion of free trade and special economic zones have been cornerstone of Iran policy to develop its non-oil exports.
President Mohammad Khatami has also given his backing to government supports of production activities and foreign investment in the free trade and industrial-economic zones.
The government backs sound production activities and foreign investment in the zones which would guarantee transfer of modern technology, increase job opportunities and serve as a complementary to the national economy, he said in June.
In light of the facilities available, free trade and special zones would take a lion's share in promoting the national economy by expanding non-oil exports and commercial services using latest information technology.
President Khatami has also urged directors of the zones to adopt new administrative methods in line with laws and regulations to boost productivity.
The president has said expansion of the free trade zones is one of the strategic cornerstone of government policy for the country's economic development.
