A section of the grand bazaar in Isfahan
caught fire on Sunday, said an official in charge of the public
relations department of Isfahan Fire Department, Shahab Rezaie, IRNA reported from Isfahan.
He told IRNA that the fire broke out in a shop on the second floor
of a mall in Isfahan bazaar and spread to adjacent shops.
"Fire brigades from two nearby fire stations were informed of the
incident and they immediately rushed to the scene. Given that the fire
had spread and it was difficult to bring it under control, they had to
seek assistance from other stations," he added.
Rezaie said that some 30 fire-fighter vehicles were used to
extinguish the fire.
He said that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit in
electricity wiring system.
The official said that expeet studies are underway to determine
the main cause of the fire.
No report has yet been released on the extent of damage inflicted
on Isfahan bazaar due to fire.
