He added that Canada is willing to broaden its industrial, trade and commercial ties with Iran independent from the US policies.
"Canada's economic policy towards Iran is similar to that of European states including Italy, Britain and Germany."
"This is while Canada is on good terms with the United States and the daily trade exchange between the two countries stands at dlrs 1.5 billion," he added.
Referring to his country's approach towards the US-led war in Iraq, he said that the Canadian government and nation believe that the decision to launch war in Iraq should have been only within the UN authority, which is similar to Iran's policy.
He pointed out the significance of Canada's investment in Iran and said that the city of Saveh is one of the areas of interest to Canada, given its important industrial and civil indices.
"If the officials of the city invite Canada to participate in tenders on investment projects in Iran, it will make investments in the industrial and commercial sectors of Saveh," he noted.
McKinon said, "Given the majority of industrial investments in Saveh belong to the private sector and that this is one of the commonalties between the investors of the two states, it can promote mutual trade and industrial ties."
In the meeting, Ashnagar said that if Canada decides to invest in Saveh, proper grounds for investment will be provided.
The governor added that given the city's profound potentials in the domains of industry and agriculture, it is one of the most significant poles in the country.
"Given its short distance from Tehran, Saveh is of great appeal to investors," he added.
He noted that the city unemployment rate of two percent and its workshop growth rate of 32 percent mark Saveh's potentials and its industrial development.
The Canadian diplomat is scheduled to inspect a number of major industrial units in the city.
