Iran's Naft wins Italy karate title

Iran's karate representative in the `Golden Cup' of Italy, San'at Naft of Ahvaz, lifted the title on Monday, IRNA reported from Rome, Italy.

The Iranian karatekas bagged four gold, three silver, and three bronze medals.

In -70 kg individual kumite in Naples, Hadi Fallahi of Iran snatched the gold and Hamed Amiri, also an Iranian, took the silver medal.

Davoud Ashrafian added a silver to Iran's asset as he finished runner-up in +75 kg. Iranian karateist Massoud Saqa took -65 kg bronze.

On Sunday, Iran snatched two golds in team kumite and kata and took three medals in individual kata.

Amin Farazi, Ebad Feizi, and Ershad Khodaei won gold, silver, and bronze medal in the individual kata respectively.

Due to the high skills of Iranian players, the `Golden Plaque' was awarded to San'at Naft.

Italy stood second and the third title went to the Philippines.

Italy (three teams), Bulgaria, Hungary, the Netherlands, Belgium, Russia, the Philippines, Romania, Croatia, Denmark, Slovenia, and Iran took part in the tournament.
