Behrouz Vossoughi and Vanessa Redgrave in the
Keeper
2003
The Legendary
Iranian Star of "Caravans" 1978 with Anthony Quinn will be making a screen
comeback in an upcoming film directed by Iranian Kayvan Mashayekh and
Co-Starring with another Screen Icon the Great British actress Vanessa Redgrave.
The Keeper: The
Legend of Omar Khayyam will be based on Omar Khayyam's
Legend, the exact plot of this film is still a secret for the film is in post
production. Vossoughi is to play the role of Omar Khayyam or Nizam Al Mulk, in
what seems to be an "Avant-Garde" movie rather than an epic on the Poets life.
Khayyam was already a subject of several
films made by Hollywood, the most famous being the "Life, Loves and Adventures
of Omar Khayyam" with Cornel Wilde and Debra Paget in the 1950's produced by
Paramount
Pictures.
Rare Movie Still of Debra Paget as
"Sharain" aka "Shirine" and Cornel Wilde as "Omar Khayyam"
In recent Years, Lebanese Author Amin Maalouf
popularized the Great Poets life in a Bestseller "Samarkand",
translated in a number of Languages, confirming the continuous fascination for
the Great Poets life and Work.
