Quake shakes Oshnavieh

A relatively strong quake hit Iran's northwestern city of Oshnavieh early Thursday morning, IRNA reported.

According to the seimological base of West Azarbaijan affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake, which measured 3.9 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale, had its epicenter in the southwestern coast of Orumiyeh lake.

The quake caused panic among residents of Oshnavieh who came out of their residences into the open.

There are no immediate reports of any possible casualty or property damage.
