The second round of human rights dialogue between the European Union and the Islamic Republic of Iran began in Brussels Friday.
According to reports by IRNA, the 25-member Iranian delegation includes officials and representatives from the foreign ministry, judiciary, the Majlis (parliament), academics, professors and NGOs.
It is led by the Director of the international law department in the foreign ministry Danesh Yazdi, Iranian diplomatic sources told IRNA.
The two sides are discussing issues like the rule of law and justice, the role of judges, lawyers and prosecutors in the judiciary system of Iran, the rights of people in courts and the important role of the constitution in the civil society.
The EU side in the 2-day meeting is led by the current Greek EU Presidency with the participation of officials from the Commission, the Council, NGOs and academics.
The first round of EU-Iran human rights dialogue was held in Tehran last December.
