A glance at the natural landscapes in Lorestan province of Iran

Lorestan province known for its natural and historical landscapes and attractions as well as religious monuments is ready to host the visitors in the New Iranian Year's (starting March 21) holidays, IRNA reported from Khorramabad on Friday.

Natural springs, green mountain ranges, charming lakes and ancient monuments in the province annually attract a great number of visitors at the outset of the New Iranian Year, known as Norouz.

Thousands of tourists get attracted to the historical Falak-ol-Aflak castle in the city of Khorramabad during Norouz holidays.

The castle, which has been set up on an archaic mound of the same name, is the most appealing provincial monument to which the visitors turn once they arrive in Khorramabad.

Moreover, Kiv and Gohar lakes in Lorestan province are annually toured by a great number of Norouz holiday makers.

Gohar lake is one of the beautiful landscapes and the most attractive lakes across the country.

It is located 40 kms to the south of the city of Doroud at an altitude of 2,360 ms from sea level adjacent to the highest peaks of Oshtorankouh mountain.

Beautiful springs and waterfalls in the city of Selseleh and the famous Pol-Dokhtar lagoon with its eye-dazzling landscapes are also of great appeal to the visitors.

Imamzadeh Mohammad and Imamzadeh Ahmad are among the auspicious religious hubs, which are frequented by the Norouz visitors to pray and make their wishes.

Head of Lorestan province Travel and Tourism Department Goudarz Nazari said that all facilities are open to holiday makers.

He added that printed brochures containing guidelines and information on the provincial attractions are available to the visiting holiday makers.
