"There are many in the Iranian community who need help just like all other groups. They have financial problems, family problems and mental health problems and these needs are not being met by the current communal system.
While 'so-called community leaders' sip champagne and toast each other in their Beverly Hills estates many are left behind and do not know how to get help. If the suspect arrested was provided the help that he so badly needed these tragic set of circumstances that have come about could have been avoided.
We urges city, county, state and federal officials to consider providing direct grants to Iranian Jewish and Iranian-American groups who can better assist those in need then the programs that are in place but are not being used because they are inaccessible to those who need those services.
The Iranian Jewish Public Affairs Committee was the only Iranian Jewish organization that publicly joined the Mayor, LAPD, FBI, ATF and other community organizations at the press conference at Parker Center to condemn the hate crime that was perpetrated against the houses of worship in Encino. Hate crimes must be prosecuted no matter who the perpetrator is or what led him to commit the crimes."
