An earthquake measuring 4.2 degrees on the
pen-ended Richter scale jolted Iran's southwester Khuzestan Province
on Monday evening, IRNA reported.
The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute, affiliated
to Tehran University, said the tremor, epicentered in an area near
the city of Ramhormoz, occurred at 17:32 hours local time (13:02 GMT).
There were no reports of casualties or damage.
Since 1991, over 950 earthquakes have hit the country resulting in
17,600 deaths and 53,300 injuries.
