Iran stood third at the foil event of the Asian Fencing Championships in Thailand, said the federation Saturday, IRNA reported.
Iran comprising Kayvan Javanshir, Javad Rezaei, Mohammad Mirmohammadi, and Vahid Parsafar succeeded in beating the powerful team of Japan.
In the semifinals, Iran lost to China, which defeated South Korea 45-24 in final and won the foil title.
The saber team of Iran also stood third in the Asian meet. Consisted of Payman Fakhri, Mojtaba Abedini, Hamid-Reza Taherkhani, and Parviz Darvishi, Iran bagged saber bronze by defeating South Korea 45-32.
Prior to the South Korea clash, the Iranian side crushed Singapore 45-14.
In its first epee challenge, Iran managed to beat India but it was beaten by South Korea and eliminated. The Iranian swordsmen will return home on November 3.
