Iran's deposits at foreign banks and institutions rose to dlrs 18.241 billion in March 2003 from dlrs 15.971 billion in December 2002 and dlrs 14.242 billion in December 2001, IRNA reported from Teharn.
Central Bank of Iran's (CBI) weekly Economic Bulletin quoted the autumn quarterly of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) as saying that the balance of Iran's accounts (the difference between deposits and obligations) with foreign banks were dlrs 6.412 billion in positive in March 2003.
The BIS figures also indicate that in March 2003 Iran's financial obligations stood at dlrs 11.729 billion.
Iran's total foreign obligations stood at dlrs 10.274 billion in 2002 with its balance of forex accounts pegged at dlrs 5.679 billion in the year.
Iran's balance of forex accounts were reportedly dlrs 7.964 billion in 2001. The blance continued falling in early 2002, but surged in early 2003.
