Iran, Germany seal deal over production of heavy auto engines

Iran and Germany on Wednesday evening signed an agreement in Tehran for production of engines of heavy vehicles in Iran's IDEM auto production plant, IRNA reported.

The agreement was signed between IDEM Managing Director Mohsen Lotfi and Vice President of Germany's DaimlerChrysler Hermann Doppler.

Under the agreement, Iran will produce 4,000 of series 900 engines for heavy vehicles in IDEM.

This will be spontaneous with DaimlerChrysler's production of the same engines in Germany's Mannheim.

IDEM, located in the northwestern city of Tabriz, is a joint venture between DaimlerChrysler and Iran Khodro Industrial Group. DaimlerChrysler holds 30 percent of IDEM shares while Iran Khodro holds 70 percent of the shares.
